  1. I love this, it captures the ethos brilliantly: “Small is valuable because it is genuine and intimate. It connects people with people, not companies.”

    I also think the current focus on the need for all of us, individuals and organisations alike, to be more aware of and actively manage our environmental impact provides a renewed imperative to resist the automatic assumption of untrammeled growth as the only means of survival for small businesses.

    Of course these ideas aren’t new, Schumacher’s Small is Beautiful was published in 1973 after all, but they are increasingly relevant and important.
